For those of you who are looking for different ideas of things to do in Lancaster City the First Friday Events are a must. Â The bustling of the busy streets, impromptu playing of outside city pianos, art exhibitions, and entertainment on every street make for a great time. Â The last time my wife and I were there we commented that on King St near the Marriot it almost felt like a big city almost, dare I say, Philadelphia??!? Â It's great to witness a city grow and attract many local and non local guests with art, innovative exhibitions, and performances. Â The First Friday event happens, as you might guess, the first friday of every month year round.
A great place to find entertainment, excitement, and an inspiring design atmosphere is at Tellus360. Â Tellus360Â is an irish pub with full menu and includes a favorite "green roof bar" that overlooks the city. Â Tellus360 has grown by leaps and bounds by becoming a hot spot for live music and DJ's almost daily. Â They also complete reclaimed wood projects commercially and have infused the style and design into their location making it one of the cooler spots in town. Â The mission statement basically states, We desire Tellus360 to be a comfortable place to enjoy food, drink, music, culture, and community. Â There's always a good time during First Friday's at Tellus360 so make sure you stop by.
A few other spots to check out are the Demuth Museum (120 E King St), Lancaster Literary Guild (113 N Lime St), Lancaster Public Library (125 N Duke St), and City Hall Gallery (120 N duke St).  These all provide excellent exhibits and performances so make sure you check out the upcoming schedules.
There are also great shops and galleries all along the downtown sections of Prince St, Queen Street and King St. Â First Friday's can be a fun (and busy) time to check out some of the newer restaurants/bars like Pour or The Taproom as well as some of the classics like Annie Baileys, Lancaster Dispensing Company (Dipco), and Quips Pub. Â If a coffee shop is more your scene Prince St cafe and Cafe One Eight are great spots but don't expect to enjoy any time to yourself on First Fridays!
