For those of you who are bike enthusiasts you will be happy to know that the Lancaster Public Works is in the process, with the city's traffic commission, to begin a pilot program to put a protected 2 way bike lane in Lancaster City.  The pilot would last for a year and would go along W Chestnut St from College Ave to Mulbery St. 

The project is in response to a growing biking community in cities across the globe.  Public meetings have been held to discuss this and with good attendance the meetings have been productive, according to Mayor Gray.  With continued support and a successful pilot Lancaster City could see accessibility and safety for bikers increase significantly in the years to come.  Residents on W Chestnut St should be aware of the program…

For those of you who are looking for different ideas of things to do in Lancaster City the First Friday Events are a must.  The bustling of the busy streets, impromptu playing of outside city pianos, art exhibitions, and entertainment on every street make for a great time.  The last time my wife and I were there we commented that on King St near the Marriot it almost felt like a big city almost, dare I say, Philadelphia??!?  It's great to witness a city grow and attract many local and non local guests with art, innovative exhibitions, and performances.  The First Friday event happens, as you might guess, the first friday of every month year round.

If you are like me and live in Lancaster, Pa than you are probably also excited by what Lancaster County Central Park has to offer.  Conveniently located just south of Lancaster City in the middle of the county (Central Park) it is accessible for everyone in the area.  The park boasts 544 acres making it the largest park in the County.  The Conestoga River creates the northern boundary with entrances off of Chesapeake St and Rt 222 on the south side of the city at Meadia Heights Golf Course.  

So what exactly does the park offer?  An Environmental Center and library, a Garden of Five Senses, Garden Plot Rentals, a Camping Area, Pavilions, Swimming Pool, Skate Park, and a Wedding Venue to name a few!
